About the position

The Sr. Manager of Accounting for Ticket Revenue is responsible for overseeing the revenue recognition accounting operations, ensuring accurate control, balancing, and verification of all company revenue and related transactions. This role involves managing a team in a fast-paced environment, utilizing accounting systems to analyze financial reports and forecasts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee revenue recognition in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant accounting standards (e.g. ASC 606)
  • Develop and enhance revenue recognition policies and procedures
  • Review and approve journal entries, present revenue numbers per month for month-end close
  • Handle ad-hoc requests with the Accounting System and ancillary revenue software
  • Leverage SQL for credit card processing and Excel data
  • Oversee the preparation of records related to revenue and expense entries
  • Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions
  • Oversee reconciliations of revenue and related general ledger balances by comparing reports from ancillary revenue systems with the general ledger
  • Summarize financial status by collecting information, preparing financial reports, assisting with profit and loss statements and other revenue recognition related statements
  • Oversee preparation of daily, weekly, monthly, and annual dashboard reports outlining revenues and expenses for various management levels
  • Drive process improvement and data enablement to support timely and accurate close, reconciliation, and financial reporting
  • Assist in ensuring a strong and sustainable financial control environment supportive of business growth
  • Provide support to the Manager of Revenue Accounting

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
  • 8+ years' experience in tax accounting with a mixture of public and private accounting
  • Experience with Seaware for Cruise Lines and/or similar booking revenue management software for the Cruise, Travel, Hospitality Industry is highly preferred
  • Cruise, travel, or hospitality experience is required
  • Experience with computerized ledger systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience managing a small team of accounting professionals
  • Familiarity with Workday General Ledger a plus

  • Experience with SQL for data processing
  • Knowledge of financial reporting standards
