About the position

As a Sr Manager of Software Engineering Java Backend Microservices at JPMorgan Chase, you will play a pivotal leadership role in mentoring and advising multiple technical teams within the Consumer and Community Banking Global Customer Platform. Your expertise will guide the advancement of financial technologies, ensuring operational efficiencies and functionalities while fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers.
• Be accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures.
• Ensure successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary.
• Provide input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team.
• Create a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritize diverse representation.
• Evaluate new technologies and tools to drive innovation and improve existing systems.
• Engage with stakeholders, including clients, to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Implement and advocate for agile methodologies and practices.
• Deliver technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains.

Requirements

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5 years applied experience.
• 2 years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
• Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives.
• Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
• In-depth knowledge of the services industry and their IT systems.
• Practical cloud native experience.
• Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience establishing vibrant engineering communities and guilds.
• Expertise in one or more programming language(s), applications, and architecture disciplines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.

Nice-to-haves

• AWS Solutions Architect or Developer certification a plus.
• Strong Kubernetes practical knowledge and certification a major plus.
• Experience working with AI/ML technologies and architecture is a plus.
