About the position

The Sr Manager, People Experience, Site Operations Lead position is a critical role within Pfizer, responsible for the comprehensive management and oversight of the Global Workplace Experience (GWE) services at the South San Francisco facility. This position entails full accountability for facility management, ensuring that all operations align with Pfizer's strategic goals, particularly within the Oncology division. The incumbent will oversee the total annual budget for the assigned location, ensuring fiscal responsibility while delivering reliable site services that support Pfizer's portfolio objectives. In this role, the manager will be tasked with strategic oversight of all aspects of site services and facility management, which includes real estate management and collaboration with site leadership, research colleagues, and GWE leadership. The incumbent will implement site efforts to enhance reliability-based maintenance functions, energy programs aligned with Pfizer's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals, and manage asset management and engineering needs for the facilities. This position requires a close working relationship with various stakeholders to develop requirements, analyze needs, and execute plans that align with Pfizer's overall objectives. The role also involves leading and developing a team to ensure a successful work experience for the GWE team, managing relationships with real estate management teams and landlords, and ensuring that outsourced service providers operate efficiently. The incumbent will provide technical support for site operations, optimize preventive maintenance programs, and guide major and minor facilities capital projects. The ability to manage multiple assignments independently while ensuring compliance with business requirements is essential. Additionally, the role requires optimizing energy consumption and managing costs to support Pfizer's ESG goals, as well as validating billing from service providers and managing expense and capital budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop assigned colleagues to ensure a successful work experience for GWE team supporting the site.
  • Manage relationship with Pfizer real estate management team and Landlord(s) based on lease requirements.
  • Ensure that any outsourced service provider maintains and operates in a manner that maximizes the productivity of personnel in laboratories and support spaces.
  • Provide technical support and direction as needed for all aspects of site operations and facility management.
  • Ensure that the supplier's preventive maintenance program is optimized to meet the needs of the business. Review and approve scheduled shutdowns.
  • Develop enhancements to current operations model such as Laboratory Instrument Services that delivers cost effective, compliant and customer focused services to eliminate burden on science lines and manages total cost of ownership of assets.
  • Provide guidance for major and minor Facilities Capital Projects including design, construction, and contract administration. Assume responsibility for project execution, including coordination of technical, financial, and contracted resources toward achievement of stated goals.
  • Manage a variety of assignments at one time and bring them to completion while working with a high degree of independence.
  • Understand site needs to help develop strategic plan for support of Pfizer portfolio and future facility needs.
  • Assure projects completed by others deliver fit for purpose and operationally complete projects from design, construction, commissioning, start-up, and occupancy activities.
  • Partner with Risk Management, Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) to assure compliance on all aspect of business requirements.
  • Optimize energy consumption in support of Pfizer ESG goals, manage costs, conservation, and the goal of continued cost saving and increased equipment reliability.
  • Reviews billing to validate costs or challenge billing discrepancies from service providers.
  • Manage and develop expense and capital budgets. Responsible for forecasting and variance reporting.
  • Other related assignments as identified by GWE management as deemed appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, facility management, or other relevant degree for related disciplines.
  • Minimum 10+ years' experience in facility management involving leadership of colleagues and contractors, ensuring compliance and successful operations of a technically complex R&D facility, or other relevant facility management experience.
  • Demonstrated breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, and oversee the work of colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
  • Strong understanding of troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Ability to direct the work of others and manage a team of professionals.
