About the position

The Sr Manager Product Ops Accounting plays a critical role in achieving our overall priority of delivering world-class financial reporting. This highly visible role drives exceptional project management processes within our Finance and Product Operations teams to collect the data needed for decision-making and financial reporting purposes. The Sr Manager Product Ops Accounting is accountable for setting our inventory and product costing policies and managing our overall product costing processes. This includes managing the inventory reserve assessment and cycle count processes, as well as providing examination and reporting to management relating to inventory costing matters. In this role, you will leverage your in-depth accounting knowledge and research capabilities to provide solutions to complex and challenging business problems. Additionally, this person will partner with team members across business functions to solve complex product operations accounting issues and drive controllership's role in key finance strategic goals. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to manage a team, communicate effectively (including with senior leadership and those with non-accounting backgrounds), and think holistically about the impact of accounting issues on our operations. Responsibilities

  • Manage the Company's inventory, inventory reserve, and cost accounting policies, processes, controls, and related activities.
  • Ensure that the Company's accounting policies are appropriately applied to all inventory-related activities and accounts.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and be the point person on all U.S. GAAP matters relating to inventory by researching, resolving, documenting, and communicating conclusions for inventory-related matters that arise.
  • Project management, including preparing presentations for the Company's cross-functional inventory leadership team, related to issues that arise out of changes in the Company's business that require new policies, processes, procedures, and controls.
  • Oversee and review inventory-related controls, including monitoring of the cycle count and physical inventory observation programs, policies, and activities.
  • Develop key metrics to track the accuracy of our inventory standards and to provide insight into our inventory-related activities for management.
  • Presentations to leadership in the Company on the progress of our inventory processes and controls.
  • Coordinate budgeting and forecasting activities relating to inventory matters with the Company's FP&A organization.
  • Work closely with our global teams to ensure that the right training and processes have been distributed with respect to our inventory policies and controls.
  • Ensure that there is an efficient and effective process in place to ensure timely close and reporting of all inventory-related matters by closely coordinating with the Company's FP&A organization.
  • Manage the standard cost setting activities, calendar, and deliverables, working closely with our Global Shared Services team.
  • Provide accounting advice to our business partners and senior leadership to assess the impact of proposed transactions and influence decision making.
  • Act as a subject matter pro on inventory treatment of accounting transactions and related financial reporting requirements; explore and offer solutions and best practices.
  • Act as a liaison between accounting teams and the broader enterprise to help with key projects, initiatives, transactions, and planning recommendations.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • A minimum of 10+ years public accounting and/or industry experience, including experience working with inventory
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and exceptional presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience with executive communication and presentations
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to drive consensus and conclusions
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills to manage the changes in the business and corresponding required changes in our policies, processes, and procedures
  • Proven technical expertise related to U.S. GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
  • Proven data analysis skills and high capacity for growth and the ability to change along with the Company
  • Integrity, personal accountability, fosters team unity, commitment to excellence, and proactive thinking

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant is highly preferred
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with automation tools, such as Alteryx, Power Query, Winshuttle, Automation Anywhere, etc.
