About the position

As a Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting at American Airlines, you will play a pivotal role in leading the Revenue Accounting team within the Finance Division. This position is designed for a dynamic leader who is ready to tackle challenges with flexibility and grace while fostering an environment of growth and expertise. You will be responsible for the administrative management of the Revenue Accounting team, ensuring that all objectives are met on time and within budget, while delivering value to business partners. Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team through various initiatives, particularly in revenue accounting automation and corporate payment initiatives. In this role, you will lead a team of Product Owners and Functional Testers, collaborating closely with the Payment business team to support their initiatives. You will work with the revenue accounting leadership team to establish clear goals, processes, and technology initiatives, while developing and maintaining product/project roadmaps. Your oversight will extend to large and complex projects, where you will manage schedules, scopes, and budgets effectively. Communication will be key, as you will frequently update the revenue accounting leadership team on the health of various projects and ensure that all stakeholders are aligned. You will also be responsible for staying current with Payment industry regulations and mandates, driving solutions in partnership with IT. Your strategic planning skills will be essential as you lead the revenue accounting and business teams in process refinement and organizational development activities. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to achieving excellence in all aspects of revenue accounting management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and administrative management for the revenue accounting automation team
  • Lead a team of Product Owners and Functional Testers to support initiatives brought forward by the Payment business team
  • Work with revenue accounting leadership team to establish goals, processes, and technology initiatives
  • Develop and maintain product/project roadmaps and lead the prioritization process
  • Oversee large/complex projects regarding schedule, scope, and budget
  • Own and maintain Payment Product backlog at the enterprise level
  • Communicate frequently and effectively with revenue accounting leadership team on the health of various projects
  • Lead corporate Payment initiatives and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure continuous progress
  • Lead revenue accounting and business teams in strategic planning, process refinement, and organizational development activities
  • Stay up to date with Payment industry regulations and mandates to help drive solutions by partnering with IT
  • Ensure objectives are met on time, within budget, and deliver value to business partners
  • Assist and advise team on policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience/training
  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Resource management experience
  • Revenue Accounting management experience
  • Expert in innovative data analytics solutions
  • Expert in complex data analysis across multiple systems

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working on a revenue Accounting Modernization project
  • Experience in leading large/complex projects to successful completion
  • Experience in leading a team of 5 or more members
  • Proven project management and project management methodology experience, including technology delivery methods
  • Experience with airline operations, Sabre, and/or QIK technology
  • Knowledge of mainframe query tools, Project Funding procedures, SOX, and GAAP experience
  • Prior airline experience
  • Experience working in Agile/DevOps team
