About the position

At CDW, we are seeking a Senior Manager of Sales & Margin Accounting to join our dynamic Finance organization. This role is pivotal in driving efficiency across the financial closing process through simplification, standardization, and automation. As a Senior Manager, you will provide leadership and direction to your team, ensuring the execution of the final close processes. You will lead a team responsible for the monthly financial close and reporting processes, with a specific focus on revenue recognition and gross margin for our services businesses. Your analytical skills will be essential as you analyze significant and complex revenue contracts to determine the appropriate accounting treatment and ensure the operational accounting processes are executed correctly. In this leadership role, you will bring thought leadership into advancing the financial closing processes, utilizing data-driven insights to enhance financial results. You will foster a growth mindset within your team, emphasizing continuous improvement, innovative solutions, and automation. Coaching and guiding your team will be a key responsibility, as you help them develop the skills and knowledge necessary for success and career advancement. You will also engage in critical thinking and problem-solving to enable strong collaboration with business partners, analyze financial results, and provide valuable insights into the business's financial performance. Maintaining efficient and effective business processes and internal controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley will be crucial. You will also engage in strategic initiatives and projects across the organization, contributing to the overall success of CDW.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and management to the team, executing the final close processes.
  • Lead and manage a team responsible for executing the monthly financial close and reporting processes, focusing on revenue recognition and gross margin for services businesses.
  • Analyze significant and/or complex revenue contracts to determine appropriate accounting treatment and execute operational accounting processes.
  • Bring thought leadership into advancing financial closing processes that are data-driven and deliver insights into financial results.
  • Drive a growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, innovative solutions, and automation.
  • Coach and guide the team around skills and knowledge for success and career advancement.
  • Engage in critical thinking and problem-solving to enable strong business partner collaboration.
  • Analyze financial results and provide value-added insights into the financial performance of the business.
  • Maintain efficient and effective business processes and internal controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Engage on strategic initiatives and projects across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience in Finance/Accounting and 3+ years of management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including leadership.
  • Advanced experience in revenue recognition guidance and application to complex fact patterns.
  • Exceptional proficiency in financial close and proficiency in using financial software and tools.
  • Strategic mindset and the ability to think critically, solve problems, and drive change.
  • Leadership experience with a track record of successfully managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • MBA or CPA is a plus.
