About the position

As a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering at Discover, you will lead the technical development of application engineering staff within Finance Corporate Services. This role involves overseeing product teams responsible for enhancing and maintaining Discover's Accounting & General Ledger functions and enterprise planning applications, primarily on the Oracle Financials Cloud platform. You will act as a servant leader, ensuring continuous delivery of enhancements, coaching engineers, and managing application ownership and development delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the direction and technical development of application engineering staff.
• Oversee product teams responsible for the enhancement and maintenance of accounting and planning applications.
• Define technology design and build competencies for engineers.
• Partner with Finance stakeholders and product owners to define target state technology design.
• Ensure continuous delivery of enhancements aligned to product team objectives.
• Coach and support engineers to improve processes and practices.
• Manage software ownership and development from initial concept through continuous improvement.
• Utilize Agile and Lean practices to identify and solve systemic issues.
• Consult with management on business requirements and recommend innovations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field.
• 8+ years of application development experience.
• 2+ years in people management.

Nice-to-haves

• Working experience with Oracle Cloud ERP and OIC.
• Experience with applications running on OCP.
• Creating and supporting ETL scripts with Ab Initio.
