About the position

The Sr. Manager of Software Engineering for Managed WordPress Infrastructure at GoDaddy is responsible for leading a software development team focused on creating a next-generation WordPress hosting platform. This role involves collaborating with engineering and product leaders to enhance customer experiences and drive successful business outcomes. The position emphasizes the use of modern technologies, scalable design principles, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a motivated engineering team in developing the next-generation WordPress hosting platform.
  • Experiment with different approaches and technologies to enhance product offerings.
  • Deliver feature epics to production in sync with team sprint rhythm, tracking and improving team velocity.
  • Translate complex business objectives into simple, scalable solutions.
  • Embrace a One System mindset and drive platform unification.
  • Utilize data and analytics to enhance products and customer experience.
  • Ensure code quality, scalability, and testability.
  • Influence decisions and outcomes during interactions with leaders, executives, and customers.
  • Engage in Tech Talks, open-source contributions, hackathons, and other activities to celebrate accomplishments.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience managing a development team.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development.
  • Expertise in designing highly scalable software solutions.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as PHP, Python, Golang, TypeScript, Rust, or Lua.
  • Proficiency with AWS and OpenStack technologies.
  • Experience with automating various processes, from build tools to monitoring.
  • Deep knowledge of agile development methodology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hosting industry experience, particularly with WordPress.
  • Experience integrating software with Ceph, Cilium, Nomad, SELinux, NGINX Unit, and Traefik.
  • Knowledge of software security best practices.
