About the position

The Sr Manager of Software Engineering for the Mobile Engineering Team at Lowe's is responsible for leading a team of mobile software engineers in the development and maintenance of integrated business and enterprise application solutions. This role involves overseeing the implementation of software solutions, providing insights for the product roadmap, and ensuring successful deployment of applications. The manager will empower their team to solve complex technical and business problems while balancing the needs of the business and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to achieve the company's mission and foster an inclusive environment.
  • Manage engineering services in the design, build, and maintenance of solutions within a set of technology products and/or services.
  • Influence and establish best-in-class engineering practices through solid design decisions and regular code reviews.
  • Leverage DevOps tools for efficient product delivery and observability tools for monitoring and improvement.
  • Partner with scrum teams to align plans with team capacity and increase velocity.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with stakeholders, including internal customers and senior management.
  • Resolve escalated issues during the development and modification of application solutions.
  • Design solutions using microservice architecture and data-driven API integration.
  • Collaborate with product team members to inform product priorities.
  • Provide input for departmental budget and manage expenses for initiatives.
  • Manage multiple services or applications and coordinate resources with technology teams and vendors.
  • Lead the team through all technology solution development phases, ensuring adherence to company policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, CIS, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 8 years of IT experience.
  • 4 years of experience in software engineering or related field.
  • 5 years working on projects involving the implementation of software development life cycles (SDLC).
  • 3 years of experience leading project or technical teams, providing technical direction and mentoring.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in computer science, CIS, or related field.
  • 2 years of leadership experience with direct report responsibility.
  • Experience managing operational and/or project financial budgets.
  • IT consulting experience.
  • Experience in IT Management in the retail industry.
  • 3 years of experience in software development in an agile environment.
  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors and/or software solution providers.
  • Experience in an IT role requiring interaction with senior leadership.
