About the position

The Sr. Manager, Technical Accounting at Supermicro is responsible for overseeing complex accounting transactions, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, and providing guidance to the general accounting team. This role involves conducting technical accounting research, preparing documentation for accounting policies, and collaborating with external auditors to resolve technical accounting matters. The position requires strong management skills and the ability to handle multiple complex assignments in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and document the Company's technical accounting transactions; work proactively with external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on US GAAP and reporting requirements
  • Conduct technical accounting research on complex transactions and new accounting pronouncements
  • Prepare and document accounting policy positions, procedures and control environment and communicate positions to the broader Finance and Accounting teams
  • Evaluate business transactions for proper U.S. GAAP accounting treatment, including accounting and disclosure recommendations and prepare technical memorandums for significant and/or non-routine transactions
  • Assist with financial due diligence and integration of M&A transactions as needed
  • Review accounting transactions, provide guidance on various accounting matters such as stock-based compensation, goodwill, investments, debt, R&D expense, and other non-routine transactions
  • Assist with month-end close and financial statement review
  • Ad hoc projects, analysis and reporting as required by management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 10+ years of working experience with at least 5+ years public accounting experience
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Strong technical writing skills and experience in the implementation and handling of complex U.S. GAAP accounting matters
  • Proven ability to research and clearly articulate and document complex technical accounting issues
  • Ability to set and keep deadlines at a fast pace while still maintaining high-quality work
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills with extensive experience managing multiple complex assignments simultaneously
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
