About the position

Capital One is seeking a Senior Manager, Technical Program Manager to lead a large integration project within our Card Technology organization. This role is pivotal in driving the execution of a cohesive roadmap across multiple payments network areas, collaborating with various organizational partners. The successful candidate will possess an innovative mindset and a proven track record of delivering next-generation software and data products. They will be responsible for ensuring that the programs align with critical business goals and contribute to the development of large-scale products and platforms. In this position, you will not only manage technical programs but also play a key role in expanding the Technical Program Management (TPM) discipline within the team. By leveraging your industry knowledge and experience, you will educate the organization on the capabilities and achievements of an effective TPM. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, particularly in building highly scalable platforms, products, or services, and will be adept at identifying and mitigating technical risks throughout the delivery lifecycle. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills are essential, as you will need to work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to achieve project goals. A quantitative approach to problem-solving, combined with a collaborative mindset, will enable you to implement holistic solutions effectively. You will also need to demonstrate a deep focus on execution, accountability, and results, ensuring that all teams are aligned and committed to delivering business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Drive execution of a cohesive roadmap across multiple payments network areas.
  • Collaborate with multiple organizational partners to ensure successful program delivery.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Educate the organization on the capabilities of an effective Technical Program Manager.
  • Simplify complex technical concepts for cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure accountability and follow-through on project deliverables.
  • Foster exceptional cross-team collaboration to achieve project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering).
  • At least 5 years of experience managing technical programs.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing.
  • 3+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services, preferably AWS.
  • 3+ years of experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms.
  • 3+ years of experience with Agile delivery.
  • 3+ years of experience delivering large and complex programs, owning the business or technical vision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment.
  • Strong technical background in building highly scalable platforms, products, or services.
