About The Position

Tesla's Manufacturing Engineering team is pioneering cutting-edge processes that enable us to produce world-class vehicles with best-in-class quality, efficiency, and safety. The Coatings team is hiring a Sr. Manufacturing Controls Dev Engineer in Fremont, CA. This role involves designing and developing SCADA systems for new manufacturing lines, collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and technology partners from concept to production. The position requires approximately 25% domestic and international travel.

Requirements

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years' experience as a SCADA or controls engineer
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++ programming
• Strong understanding of databases and data management
• Extensive knowledge of SCADA software, hardware, and protocols; experience with Ignition 7/8 is a plus

Responsibilities

• Design and enhance SCADA systems to optimize and control manufacturing operations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and leverage data insights for decision-making
• Develop and implement solutions to resolve issues, streamline processes, and improve production efficiency
• Modify PLC and HMI applications in the field to meet evolving requirements and enhance performance
• Configure and deploy SCADA hardware/software, including Ignition 8, EMES, SICAR, and FactoryTalk View
• Manage manufacturing data using SQL databases for efficient analysis and reporting
• Conduct testing, diagnose technical issues, and provide training and support for system updates and rollouts
