About the position

Tesla is seeking a motivated and accomplished Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design and implementation of automated material handling systems for new and existing factories. This role involves managing projects from concept to installation, ensuring efficient material flow to manufacturing lines, and providing mentorship to other engineers. The position is based in Gigafactory Texas near Austin, TX, and requires working in a fast-paced environment to accomplish ambitious projects.

Responsibilities

• Design automated material handling solutions to improve material flows throughout the facilities.
• Drive material flow strategies and dynamic manufacturing systems.
• Develop analytical models to establish design criteria and overall system performance criteria.
• Investigate and research advanced technologies to optimize material handling equipment and systems.
• Concept development, detailed engineering design, and collaboration with system build and integration.
• Develop RFQs, technical equipment specifications, procedures, and proper documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of practical automated material handling and process equipment design experience in AS/RS, electric monorail systems, conveyance, mobile robotics (AGVs or AMRs), and robotic material handling.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA or similar modeling software.
• A solid engineering background with hands-on design and development experience.
• Ability to lead a project from concept through to installation and hand-over while working in a close-knit, team environment.
• Knowledge of and experience with material flow strategies and dynamic manufacturing systems.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
