About the position

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Milpitas, CA. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your engineering education and experience to act as a technical liaison between JJSV engineering and external manufacturers. Your primary responsibility will be to support these external manufacturers, ensuring that their manufacturing processes are continuously improved to produce products that are safe, efficient, and compliant with all quality, cost, and delivery requirements. You will play a crucial role in preventing or minimizing unplanned downtime, which is essential for maintaining operational efficiency. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide support in identifying, procuring, qualifying, and integrating key manufacturing tools, equipment, processes, and systems. Your expertise will be vital in investigating product and process quality, leading to improvements that enhance customer satisfaction. You will also be responsible for leading all aspects of continuous improvement projects, focusing on improving and designing production electronic testing equipment for internal manufacturing. Additionally, you will collaborate with external suppliers to generate and optimize PCBA testing, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards. A detailed working knowledge in areas such as data analytics, statistics, and Six Sigma/Lean methodologies is essential for this role. You will be expected to develop and apply mathematical or statistical theories and methods to collect, organize, interpret, and summarize numerical data, providing usable and actionable information. Furthermore, you will document, verify, and validate mechanical, optical, and electrical designs and their related processes. Planning and implementing component qualifications, sampling plans, and test strategies will also be part of your responsibilities, along with supporting new product transfer activities, including process qualification and supplier component processes.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical liaison between JJSV engineering and external manufacturers.
  • Support external manufacturers to improve manufacturing processes for safety and efficiency.
  • Prevent or minimize unplanned downtime in manufacturing operations.
  • Identify, procure, qualify, and integrate key manufacturing tools and equipment.
  • Investigate product and process quality to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects in manufacturing processes.
  • Improve and design production electronic testing equipment for internal manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers to optimize PCBA testing.
  • Develop and apply statistical methods to analyze numerical data.
  • Document, verify, and validate mechanical, optical, and electrical designs and processes.
  • Plan and implement component qualifications and sampling plans.
  • Support new product transfer activities, including process qualification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of data analytics and statistics.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
  • Ability to develop and apply mathematical or statistical theories.
  • Experience in documenting and validating engineering designs.
  • Knowledge of electronic testing equipment and PCBA testing processes.
