About the position

The Sr Manufacturing Engineer at Westinghouse Electric will provide process engineering support at a zirconium manufacturing facility, focusing on equipment, systems, products, and processes for the commercial nuclear power industry. This role involves leading technical responsibilities for manufacturing programs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and implementing process improvements to enhance productivity and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct technical engineering support and leadership for manufacturing and chemical operations and maintenance.
• Lead the development and administration of major manufacturing programs, including monitoring system performance and specifying new processes and designs.
• Design and implement new or modified systems, overseeing installation, fabrication, testing, and qualification of new equipment or processes.
• Analyze failures in systems and recommend resolutions using engineering analytical skills.
• Utilize technological innovations in material, machinery, and manufacturing techniques to solve complex problems.
• Perform engineering calculations to support equipment and process designs, including Finite Element Analyses using ANSYS or similar tools.
• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to enhance yield, FTT, process safety, and productivity.
• Address customer and regulatory requirements, preparing technical papers and making formal presentations.
• Analyze and propose new business opportunities and implement strategic plans.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgy.
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing or chemical plant.
• Working knowledge of ASME and industry codes.
• Strong teamwork skills, including leadership and participation.
• Clear, concise, and convincing oral and written communication skills.
• Presentation skills critical to influence desired outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically to drive improvements and resolve issues.
