About the position

As a Test Engineer in Skunk Works®, you will serve as a crucial link between design engineering teams and production personnel, focusing on developing vehicle test processes and plans. Your role involves troubleshooting system failures on the production floor and ensuring a safe and efficient testing environment. You will collaborate with various engineering disciplines to enhance vehicle assembly and testing integration, contributing to the advancement of manufacturing and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Support the stand-up of a complex program responsible for identifying operational testing needs.
  • Execute strategic planning initiatives for creating a safe and efficient shop floor testing environment.
  • Work in parallel with design engineering, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, environmental safety & health, and production operations.
  • Create manufacturing test engineering statement of work contractual requirements.
  • Interface with shop floor management and personnel to troubleshoot and resolve vehicle test issues.
  • Implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Create shop aid tooling and analyze shop floor performance.
  • Support the quality organization in root cause analysis and corrective action activities for process-related defects.

Requirements

  • Experience testing and troubleshooting of aircraft sub-systems such as fuel systems, pumps, valves, actuators, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Experience authoring air vehicle system test procedures, work instructions, and plans to validate air vehicle to meet airworthiness requirements.
  • Experience with aircraft sub-systems assembly and vehicle integration operations.
  • Hands-on experience with test equipment and vehicle Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Active Secret Clearance required with an investigation within the last 5 years.

  • Experience and knowledge of typical Flight Line operations and ground support activities.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and collaboration skills in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively present technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Development/prototype/first article program support.
  • Jet engine integration and service familiarity.
  • Ability to determine required regression testing during air vehicle rework, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
  • Conducting safety briefs/huddles prior to testing to ensure team safety and efficiency.
  • Ability to understand aircraft system operation to an IPT level for all air vehicle systems.
  • Experience testing prototype air vehicles.
  • Strong knowledge of all phases of manufacturing.
  • Previous role as a Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Experience with 3DX and Catia V5 software.
