About the position

The Senior Market Manager at Ash Grove Cement is responsible for overseeing sales activities within a designated territory, supporting sales representatives, and promoting the company's products to current and potential customers. This role emphasizes quality customer service and strategic sales management to enhance market presence and drive revenue growth.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain contact with product manufacturers, dealers, and contractors.
  • Promote and sell products through presentations and participation in promotional meetings.
  • Call contractors to gather information on job interest and product pricing.
  • Track and record bids using Bid History and SFDC.
  • Attend bid lettings and participate in strategic planning and pricing for projects.
  • Maintain an up-to-date bid calendar for projects in the territory.
  • Provide quality customer service and resolve customer complaints promptly.
  • Keep the credit department informed of any credit issues and provide financial information on accounts.
  • Organize and execute plant tours for customers.
  • Stay informed on industry trends by attending professional meetings and workshops.
  • Provide price quotes and inform management of any price deviations.
  • Make promotional calls on public works and consulting firms in the territory.
  • Maintain a contact list and schedule regular visits to agencies and firms.
  • Inform management of competitive conditions and opportunities in the territory.
  • Collaborate with company employees to improve marketing and service efforts.
  • Participate in establishing sales forecast goals and update forecasts monthly.
  • Participate in SPI meetings and communicate customer needs with management.
  • Obtain competitive cement samples and prepare sales activity reports.
  • Utilize Salesforce to log sales calls and maintain customer information.
  • Participate in concrete associations and provide leadership to benefit the company.
  • Maximize sales budget to maintain and develop customer relationships.

Requirements

  • Preferred 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Sales, Purchasing or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Sales Representative or similar role.
  • Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent judgment.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively and understand sales policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite and computer applications.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and refer unusual problems to a supervisor.
  • Knowledge of concrete, including ACI Field 1 certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the construction or cement industry.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM software.
