About the position

The Sr. Market Research Analyst at CF Industries plays a crucial role in conducting market research activities that provide essential information, analyses, and forecasts related to the agricultural and fertilizer industries. This position requires the analyst to make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results to support the company's strategic and tactical decisions. The role operates under limited supervision, allowing for a significant degree of creativity, autonomy, and latitude in executing tasks. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in Applied Economics, Agricultural/Resource Economics, or an MBA with an emphasis on Economics, along with expertise in managing data, visualizations, and conducting data analysis using R Studio or other statistical computing packages. In this role, the analyst will maintain and manage extensive databases that contain factual information about the U.S. and global agricultural, energy, macroeconomic, and fertilizer industries. They will present data, analyses, and studies concerning these industries through written reports and oral presentations to various stakeholders, including the Sales & Supply Chain organization and CF senior management. The analyst will also be responsible for inputting and maintaining industry data related to agricultural and fertilizer supply/demand, trade, and prices, ensuring data accuracy, and creating new datasets to support team analyses. Additionally, the Sr. Market Research Analyst will develop new models and reports as required, respond to ad hoc requests for information and analysis, assist with the development of publications, and may conduct or assist in cross-functional market research studies. The position also involves understanding and complying with established departmental processes and procedures to support internal control efforts, identifying any deficiencies in internal controls, and bringing them to management's attention. This role is vital in providing forecasts, analysis, and factual information that support the company's sales and supply chain groups, as well as strategic decisions made by senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains/manages extensive databases containing factual information for the U.S. and world agricultural, energy, macroeconomic, and fertilizer industries.
  • Presents data/analyses/studies concerning the U.S. and world agricultural and fertilizer industries via written reports and oral presentations to the Sales & Supply Chain organization, CF senior management, and other internal and external constituents.
  • Inputs and maintains industry data for agricultural and fertilizer supply/demand, trade, and prices. Creates new datasets and databases to support team analyses. Checks and ensures data accuracy. May report on weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual data.
  • Develop new models/reports as required by the manager.
  • Provides timely responses to ad hoc requests for information and analysis pertaining to the U.S. and world agricultural and fertilizer industries, including CF-related requests.
  • Assists team with PowerPoint, Word, and other publication development and supports publication design and preparation. Develops geographical maps and new visualizations as requested.
  • May conduct or assist in conducting cross-functional market research studies on specific topics of interest to CF Industries. Also evaluates and utilizes data and research from various agribusiness consulting firms, extension agencies, and other outside organizations.
  • Conducts or assists with special projects as assigned or requested by department or product management, as time permits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in economics or business preferred.
  • Strong analytical background; self-starter and takes initiative.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; familiarization with or aptitude to learn data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and coding languages.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Applied Economics, Agricultural/Resource Economics, or MBA with Economics emphasis preferred.
  • Expertise in managing data, visualizations, and conducting data analysis using R Studio or other statistical computing packages preferred.
  • Prior fertilizer industry experience is not required.
