About the position

The Sr. Process Engineer at Lockheed Martin will lead the development of composite processes in Owego, focusing on improving yield and cost savings. This role involves collaboration with teams working on adhesives and sealants for circuit board manufacturing, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of production processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead composite process development work.
• Define additional processes to improve yield and cost savings.
• Collaborate with teams on adhesives and sealants for circuit board manufacturing.
• Develop processes and work with machine shops for finishing.
• Conduct material property testing and failure analysis.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Material Science and Engineering or equivalent experience/combined education with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree.
• 5 years of experience working with non-metallic materials such as sealants, adhesives, polymers, and/or composites.
• Experience developing processes and working with additional teams such as machine shops for finishing.
• Understanding of material property testing, ASTM standards, and failure analysis.
• Strong verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills.
• Hands-on project or work experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with autoclave/heat treatment cure cycle development.
• Ability to set up/transition new equipment and new manufacturing technologies.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and detailed specifications.
• Ability to create and revise material and process specifications, reports, and test plans.
• Experience preparing and delivering technical presentations.
• Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail.
