About the position

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in Material Flow and Packaging Innovation at Tesla, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of innovative packaging solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our manufacturing processes. This position requires a deep understanding of mechanical design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement in material flow and packaging systems, ensuring that our products are delivered to customers in the most efficient and sustainable manner possible. Your responsibilities will include conducting detailed analyses of existing packaging systems, developing new design concepts, and creating prototypes to test and validate your ideas. You will utilize advanced CAD software to create detailed engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring that all designs meet Tesla's high standards for quality and performance. Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies and cost analyses to support your design recommendations, as well as collaborating with suppliers to source materials and components that align with our sustainability goals. In this role, you will also be expected to stay current with industry trends and advancements in packaging technology, continuously seeking out new methods and materials that can enhance our operations. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in packaging or material flow.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Strong understanding of materials science and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with prototyping and testing of mechanical designs.
  • Ability to conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
