About the position

The position is for a mid-career mechanical design engineer within KLA's RAPID division, which specializes in reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The engineer will support the design of advanced opto-mechanical inspection systems, engage in the design process from concept to manufacturing, and build technical relationships with vendors. This role involves a variety of engineering tasks including requirements specification, feasibility studies, and performance characterization, with a focus on innovative design and problem-solving in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design of sophisticated opto-mechanical inspection systems.
  • Engage in requirements specification and feasibility studies.
  • Conduct analysis including FEA modeling, thermal, and CFD.
  • Create detailed design drawings and presentations for design reviews.
  • Procure prototype parts and support prototype testing and system integration.
  • Manage the design process from concept through manufacturing build.
  • Develop innovative designs involving precision mechanisms and Ultra High Vacuum systems.
  • Perform thermal analysis and tolerance analysis.

Requirements

  • Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years.
  • Proficient in 3D solid modeling CAD, preferably ProE/Creo.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Strong understanding of physics and mechanics.
  • Experience in mechanical design, testing, and troubleshooting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with mechanical manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, and welding.
  • Experience in finite element analysis, creep and stress relaxation, and modal analysis.
