About the position

This position at Transocean involves participating in the design development and modification of structures, equipment, and systems for mobile offshore drilling units. The role focuses on project planning, including scope identification, cost estimation, and work pack development, while also supervising OEM and third-party contributors. The position requires travel to various worksites, with a significant portion of time dedicated to project management and engineering issue resolution.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of project planning for Mechanical, Drilling and Marine systems and equipment.
• Scope identification, scope definition, cost estimation, and work pack development.
• Development of verified deliverables to explain scope and justify scopes for execution personnel.
• Coordinate with and supervise OEMs and 3rd party contributors for surveys and site visits.
• Attend rigs, shipyards, and vendor facilities as required for project planning activities.
• Coordinate project estimating activities and cost reduction techniques with OEMs and 3rd party contributors.
• Develop and maintain dialog with internal engineering stakeholders for scope validation.
• Plan and track project procurements with project managers and internal purchasing departments.
• Contribute to Marketing Bid Support efforts by providing work scopes and accurate cost estimates.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience along with Technical School and/or Military Service Training Certifications in relevant subjects.
• 10+ years relevant work experience with an offshore drilling contractor, aboard maritime vessels, or in a shipyard environment.
• Relevant computer skills, including knowledge of specialized engineering software suites.
• Comfortable reviewing general arrangements, block diagrams, flow diagrams, and OEM documentation.
• Good understanding of ABS, DNV, API, and related industry regulations and standards.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate efforts of others.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Self-starter with initiative and confidence to act on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
