About the position

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer position at Belcan involves working as part of a cross-functional team to design, build, and test a torpedo tube deployment system for submarine platforms. The role requires a strong background in mechanical engineering, particularly in designing electro-mechanical systems that can withstand harsh environmental conditions. The position is hybrid eligible and requires a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design of electro-mechanical systems capable of surviving harsh environmental conditions (shock, vibration, temperature).
• Utilizing CAD tools to create 3D models and drawings for technical data packages that meet ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.100 standards.
• Performing structural and thermal analyses to meet submarine environmental requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field and a minimum of 8 or more years of job-related experience OR a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
• Advanced proficiency with modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings.
• Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards.
• Exceptional communication skills with experience writing technical papers and proposals.
• Collaborative, creative thinker with experience leading complex projects with successful outcomes.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others.
• Must have defense industry background.
• Experience in Mechanical Design.
• Extensive CAD experience (SolidWorks or CREO).
• Strong drafting background (ASME Y14.100, ASME Y14.5).
• Familiar with designing for defense applications (environmental requirements - shock, vibration, temp).
