About the position

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at KLA, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of precision components, modules, and subsystems for ultra-high vacuum systems, particularly focusing on multidisciplinary and highly complex motion systems. This position is integral to the creation of next-generation reticle inspection tools, which are essential for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. You will be responsible for the complete design process, which includes defining mechanical architecture, developing manufacturing drawings, and improving prototypes. Your expertise will be crucial in driving requirements specification and conducting various analyses, such as fluid, thermal, vibrational, and finite element analysis (FEA) modeling. You will utilize your strong understanding of Geometric Tolerancing (GD&T) and perform detailed tolerance stack-up analysis. Throughout the design process, you will hold design reviews, procure prototype parts, and oversee prototype assembly and testing. Additionally, you will manage system integration and testing, create assembly and test procedures, and ensure proper documentation release and handoff to manufacturing. In this role, you will also be responsible for on-site management and coordination of system installations and commissioning activities. This includes running daily meetings to plan activities for all individuals involved in the integration of system builds, assigning resources, and providing solutions to resolve issues with other engineering and facility teams. You will maintain the schedule for all tool installations and integration, acting as the single point of contact for suppliers, logistics, facilities, operations, and other engineering teams to ensure timely responses for urgent requests from the floor. Your collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential in establishing tool requirements and specifications, conducting feasibility studies, and planning and scheduling design reviews throughout the Design for Excellence (DfX) process. You will also assist with prototype assembly and testing, addressing and resolving product issues through all phases of the project.
