About the position

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at KLA, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of precision components, modules, and subsystems for ultra-high vacuum systems, particularly focusing on multidisciplinary and highly complex motion systems. Your work will directly support the design of next-generation reticle inspection tools, which are critical in the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. You will be responsible for the complete design process, which includes owning the full design cycle from defining mechanical architecture to developing manufacturing drawings, improving prototypes, and ensuring thorough documentation. Your responsibilities will encompass driving requirements specification, conducting conceptual and detailed design, and creating detailed drawings using 3D solid modeling software such as ProE/Creo. You will also conduct various analyses, including fluid, thermal, vibrational, and finite element analysis (FEA) modeling, and will need to have a solid understanding of Geometric Tolerancing (GD&T) and detailed tolerance stack-up analysis. Throughout the design process, you will hold design reviews, procure prototype parts, and oversee prototype assembly and testing, as well as system integration and testing. In addition to design responsibilities, you will manage and coordinate on-site system installations and commissioning activities. This includes running daily meetings to plan activities for all individuals involved in the integration of system builds, assigning resources, and providing solutions to resolve issues with other engineering and facility teams. You will maintain the schedule for all tool installations and integration, and act as the single point of contact for suppliers, logistics, facilities, operations, and other engineering teams to ensure timely responses for urgent requests from the floor. Your role will also involve supporting mechanical design processes by working with cross-functional teams to establish tool requirements and specifications, conducting feasibility studies, and planning and scheduling design reviews throughout the Design for Excellence (DfX) process. You will assist with prototype assembly and testing and address product issues throughout all phases of development.
