About the position

Wavestream sets the standard in the design and manufacture of solid-state transceivers for satellite communication networks. We are enabling communication access to all people through our customers who integrate their products in a variety of applications. From high-speed in-flight connectivity, ground stations for LEO constellations, and supporting soldiers and first responders in remote areas - our customers expect high reliability solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and integration of mechanical design for packaging of electronics and RF components for high power and high-frequency RF Amplifiers.
• Design ruggedized enclosures for commercial, military, and airborne environments.
• Perform tooling design and harness design.
• Solid modeling (2D/3D CAD) parts, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks.
• Submit drawings and Bill of Material for release in PLM system (Agile).
• Conduct thermal analysis of electronics cooling using SolidWorks Simulation (FEA) and SolidWorks Flow Simulation (CFD) and report findings.
• Perform structural analysis of assemblies to meet MIL-STD-810F & RTCA/DO-160G environments and report findings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline from an ABET accredited school.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in SolidWorks or other modeling programs; experience with SolidWorks PDM, FEA, and CFD is a plus.
• Strong drafting skills including ASME Y14.5M standards and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
• Strong design for manufacturing (DFM) knowledge; must be hands-on and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Vast knowledge of manufacturing processes focusing on machining, sheet metal, and injection molding.
• Knowledge of materials and metal finishing design and practices.
• Familiarity with IPC standards and PCB layout standards and practices for electrical assemblies.
• Familiarity with document release practices using PLM Software; history with Agile is a plus.
• Great computer literacy; proficient with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
• Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Detail-focused and able to multi-task well in a fast-paced working environment.
• Familiarity with AS9100 practices.
