About the position

The Sr Mechanical Engineer role is a pivotal position responsible for providing engineering support for advanced manufacturing processes. This role requires specialized qualifications, knowledge, and skills to effectively manage and execute complex engineering projects. The engineer will be expected to engage in project management, design, development, and evaluation of quality control functions, ensuring that all engineering projects meet high standards of quality and efficiency. As a recognized authority in the field, the Sr Mechanical Engineer will work under general administrative direction, allowing for some latitude in decision-making and actions. The engineer will also conduct research and development activities, documenting findings in technical reports to address complex engineering and quality issues through scientific methods. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Sr Mechanical Engineer will mentor junior engineers, establishing operating procedures for new products and components. The role requires the ability to analyze data to recommend new designs or modifications to existing designs, ensuring product quality and resolving any processing or inspection issues. The engineer will also evaluate and implement technological innovations that enhance productivity and operational reliability, while collaborating with design agencies and suppliers to address design and production challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for advanced manufacturing processes.
  • Manage project resources and planning to achieve quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Conduct research and development, writing technical reports to resolve complex engineering problems.
  • Mentor lower-level engineers and establish operating procedures for new products.
  • Utilize data to recommend new designs and resolve design problems.
  • Evaluate and implement innovations to improve quality and productivity.
  • Interact with design agencies and suppliers to resolve design and production issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
