About the position

The Senior Mechanical Power Generation Engineer at GPD Group is responsible for leading project designs in the power generation industry while mentoring and developing junior engineers. This role emphasizes collaboration, technical leadership, and client engagement, ensuring successful project execution and adherence to industry standards. The engineer will leverage their extensive experience in mechanical design and project management to drive growth and deliver value to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management involving interaction with multiple stakeholders and a variety of services including engineering design, surveys, facility assessments, and construction administration.
  • Technical design and oversight, acting as a hands-on technical leader while mentoring younger engineers and analyzing project control systems.
  • Strategic Planning to develop and execute actions aligned with the Mechanical team and GPD Group goals.
  • Client Engagement and Management to build and grow programs and relationships, understanding client needs and translating them into specific scope and reporting systems.
  • Mentoring and developing the team to enhance success in the industry, focusing on mechanical engineering training and empowering teammates.
  • Administrative oversight using Key Performance Indicators to track workflow tasks, scheduling, and ensuring project documents are consistent with plans and within budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of design experience in Power/Energy Generation and power delivery utilities.
  • Experience managing engineers in design and documentation for project work.
  • PE License preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand project requirements including contract documents, project scope, technical plans, and specifications.
  • Experience with Process Piping Design, P&ID's, Natural Gas systems, and Thermal stress analysis.
  • Understanding of Mechanical Codes, Plumbing codes, NFPA, and ASME Standards (ASME B.31).
  • Proficiency in CAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and professional writing skills.

  • Experience with client engagement during project conception and programming.
  • Ability to provide value engineering recommendations for cost-saving improvements.
  • Experience in mentoring and empowering engineers newer in their career.
