About The Position

The Sr. Mechanical / Thermal Engineer at Siemens EDA will play a crucial role in the development of hardware for FPGA prototyping solutions. This position focuses on thermal and server chassis design, requiring expertise in system-level thermal design, including forced air, liquid, and immersion cooling technologies. The engineer will be responsible for mechanical design tasks at both the chassis and PCBA levels, conducting feasibility studies, design margin analysis, and validation testing on new and modified designs. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, including electrical, FPGA, software, and marketing departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical and thermal design.
  • Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD software, preferably Siemens NX.
  • Experience with CFD software, preferably FloTherm.
  • Strong background in mechanical and thermal architecture of electronics packaging design.
  • Ability to analyze engineering data using spreadsheets (tolerance analysis, FEA, FAI/CPK).
  • Solid verbal and written presentation skills, particularly in PowerPoint.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with experience in failure analysis and root cause investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in DOE (Design of Experiments) creation.
  • Familiarity with thermal mockups and validation techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop thermal and mechanical solutions for server chassis ranging from 1RU to 10RU sizes.
  • Conduct feasibility, design margin, and validation analysis on new and modified designs.
  • Lead and assist in architecture development and assessment.
  • Address thermal challenges in support of system designs.
  • Perform empirical testing and analysis using CFD and thermal mockups.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design integrity and performance.
