About the position

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) at KalVista Pharmaceuticals is a key field-facing representative responsible for engaging with external stakeholders, including healthcare providers and researchers, to exchange scientific data and medical information. The role aims to ensure that stakeholders have accurate information to make informed decisions regarding the health of patients with Hereditary Angioedema. The Senior MSL will also mentor less experienced MSLs and lead special projects, contributing to the strategic objectives of the Medical Affairs team.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary clinical/scientific resource to healthcare providers in the territory for information pertaining to disease state and KalVista's products.
• Serve as a conduit for accurate and updated clinical, scientific, and medical information between thought leaders and the company's Medical Affairs and development groups.
• Establish and maintain peer relationships with thought leaders in relevant therapeutic areas.
• Share knowledge and participate in scientific exchanges with identified thought leaders.
• Present clinical, scientific, and economic data on KalVista products to decision-makers as requested.
• Support assigned professional congresses and lead congress coverage efforts as required.
• Identify and report key scientific insights from thought leaders to Medical Affairs.
• Develop and present plans to support Medical Affairs strategic direction for the assigned territory.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of disease state, study methodology, and product data.
• Serve as a technical/scientific resource to KalVista commercial personnel when requested.
• Teach, coach, and mentor new or less experienced MSLs and assist with performance evaluations.
• Facilitate review and follow-up of submitted Investigator-Initiated Studies and assist with KalVista sponsored trials.
• Lead field medical efforts in support of KalVista collaboration with professional organizations and advocacy groups.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years MSL experience in the therapeutic area of interest to KalVista.
• 10 years of industry/clinical pharmacist/research experience in a scientific or clinical setting.
• Strong broad-based scientific and pharmaceutical knowledge.
• Clinical trial development and drug launch experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, FDA regulations, and OIG guidelines is required.
• Ability to communicate with confidence and accuracy across relevant disease states.
• Ability to establish relationships with key opinion leaders and knowledge of institutions in therapeutic areas of interest.
• Excellent presentation and teaching skills.
• Strong overall written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to assess issues and think strategically.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple changing priorities.
• Ability to work independently while adhering to Medical Affairs strategic direction.
• Interest in coaching and mentoring less experienced MSLs.
