About the position

The Prevention Program Manager at the Georgia Department of Public Health is responsible for managing federally funded programs related to HIV prevention. This role involves overseeing program objectives, drafting policies, facilitating team meetings, and supervising staff. The manager will also represent the program in various meetings and ensure compliance with federal reporting requirements, all while contributing to the mission of protecting the health of Georgians.

Responsibilities

  • Manage federally funded programs according to specific policies and regulations, ensuring annual objectives are met.
  • Draft new policies, procedures, and regulations for management approval.
  • Facilitate ongoing Prevention Team meetings and deliver presentations as requested by leadership.
  • Supervise the Assistant HIV Prevention Manager and other coordinators, maintaining performance management plans.
  • Submit federal reports and ensure timely documentation from staff.
  • Represent the HIV Prevention Program in internal and external meetings and committees.
  • Attend quarterly Georgia Prevention and Care Council meetings as the HIV state prevention representative.
  • Collaborate with the Ryan White Part B Manager for integration of HIV treatment and care activities.
  • Work with the HIV Data Team Manager to implement program planning and evaluation activities.
  • Demonstrate leadership through effective communication and participation in committees.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Four years in a managerial or supervisory role, or eight years of related professional experience with four years in a managerial role.
  • Experience at the lower level Mgr 2, Business Ops or equivalent may substitute for education.
