About the position

As a Senior Manager of Digital Payments Product Management at American Express, you will play a pivotal role in evolving our token product suite. This position is designed for a strategic thinker who can lead the development of next-generation token products and capabilities that enhance the payments experience for our issuing, merchant, and acquiring partners. You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end product lifecycle of our Token services, which includes defining product strategy, discovering customer needs, and driving technical implementation and go-to-market execution. Your work will directly impact checkout conversion rates, customer spend, and engagement, making it essential to understand both the market landscape and customer personas. In this role, you will design new products, features, and experiences tailored to target customer personas by leveraging both external and internal data insights. You will define business requirements and collaborate closely with partner delivery teams, engineers, and solutions architects to identify technical solutions and assess trade-offs. Your ability to track product metrics and KPIs will be crucial in collecting customer feedback to continuously improve the product and refine the feature backlog. You will also work with various internal teams to shepherd product enhancements through the new product development process, ensuring that the best customer and business outcomes are achieved. Additionally, you will maintain a pulse on external trends and marketplace dynamics that impact the payments and banking industry, representing network interests in leading external industry forums. Your strategic thought leadership will be vital in synthesizing market trends into actionable opportunities for American Express, driving solutions, and building consensus for key initiatives. This role requires a high level of collaboration, relationship management, and effective communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Design new products, features, and experiences for target customer personas leveraging external and internal data and insights.
  • Define business requirements and lead envisioning with partner delivery teams.
  • Partner with engineers and solutions architects to identify technical solutions, assess tradeoffs, and deliver product features/platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to shepherd product enhancements through new product development process and advocate to create the best customer and business outcomes.
  • Define and track product metrics and KPIs and collect customer feedback to continuously improve the product and refine feature backlog.
  • Collaborate with stakeholder teams to deliver go-to-market strategy and coordinate execution across marketing, sales, partner enablement, and servicing.
  • Maintain pulse on external trends and marketplace dynamics impacting the payments and banking industry, to inform continuous product evolution.

Requirements

  • 4+ years in product management or product development, identifying customer needs, driving seamless delivery and go-to-market enablement, and managing product economics.
  • Strategic and innovative mindset, with the ability to synthesize and translate market and industry trends into opportunities for AXP.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving ability; self-starter who can translate ideas into actionable insights.
  • High level of comfort with data and analytics, with experience using data to drive decision making and product improvement.
  • Ability to identify customer personas and develop features that solve for distinct customer needs and deliver best-in-class customer experiences.
  • A consultant mentality with the ability to distill ideas, connect the dots from across multiple business topics, organize the information and tell a story.
  • Strong external and internal partnership skills; proven track record to partner with senior leaders a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including concise verbal and written executive-level communications.
  • Ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver value beyond traditional means.
  • Ability to succinctly describe the latest trends and provide thought leadership on their relevance to American Express.
  • High energy and an optimistic attitude.
