About the position

The Senior Manager, HR Communications will play a pivotal role in supporting leadership to implement the overall HR Communication strategy. This position is responsible for the development and delivery of key messages that align with various HR initiatives. The Senior Manager will work closely with HR leaders to act as a counsel, ensuring that communication needs are aligned with the overall strategy. This includes developing content in consultation with HR Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and adhering to brand objectives. Under the oversight of the Vice President of HR Communications, the Senior Manager will develop and execute comprehensive communication plans across a wide variety of HR initiatives, managing multiple projects simultaneously. By creating innovative communication solutions, the Senior Manager will help both mass and targeted audiences understand and appreciate the benefits and programs that Charter provides, which are essential for maintaining employee engagement and retention, while enhancing employees' perceptions of working at and having a career with Charter. The role will involve developing, implementing, and driving the HR communication strategy under the direction of the Vice President of HR Communications. The Senior Manager will be responsible for creating, editing, proofreading, and reviewing various communication materials, ensuring consistency in messaging across all platforms. This includes overseeing the development of deliverables designed to educate employees about the various tools, resources, and programs available to them and their families. The Senior Manager will partner with HR SMEs to develop and implement communication and change management strategies that support HR initiatives. Key areas of focus will include maintaining and enhancing communication materials for new hires, promoting the “investing in you” messaging, and developing monthly toolkits to assist people leaders and HR in educating employees about programs locally. The Senior Manager will also support business unit HR communication efforts as needed and perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of HR Communications to support HR communication programs, campaigns, and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and drive HR communication strategy under the direction of Vice President, HR Communications.
  • Develop, edit, proofread and/or review various communication materials for style, understanding and consistency in messaging.
  • Create or oversee the development of deliverables designed to educate employees on the various tools, resources and programs provided for employees and their families.
  • Partner with HR subject matter experts to develop and implement communication and change management strategies that support HR initiatives.
  • Maintain and enhance communication materials and tools for new hires, including orientation presentations and targeted email communications.
  • Promote and support “investing in you” messaging across existing communication channels, including employee storytelling.
  • Develop and maintain monthly toolkits to help people leaders and HR support program education locally.
  • Promote career growth and development by showcasing employees' paths forward through stories and resources.
  • Support business unit HR communication efforts on an as-needed basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Vice President, HR Communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Journalism, Communication, Marketing, Public Relations) is required.
  • 7-10 years of experience in HR Communications, Employee Communications, or Internal Communications.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret data related to complex concepts.
  • Ability to manage projects from conception to completion, including content development, design, review, and approval.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to grasp new concepts quickly.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Integrity, sound judgment, and out-of-the-box thinking with a passion for adding value through collaboration.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience with digital platforms and understanding of how to maximize their effectiveness, with a preference for Adobe Experience Cloud.
  • Expert level skill in MS Office package (MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Knowledge of AP Style is a plus.
