About the position

The Sr. Mobile Diesel Mechanic position at Cox Enterprises involves performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and advanced repairs on various types of vehicles in a mobile environment. This role is crucial for diagnosing complex issues and leading jobsites, acting as a consultant for customers and technicians. The position requires a high level of independence and compliance with safety and organizational policies, while also achieving performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile environment.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, and engines.
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
• Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper functioning.
• Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck.
• Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and inspections.
• Communicate effectively with clients to assess their needs and resolve issues.
• Document work performed and findings according to company standards using a company-issued iOS device.
• Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' experience in a related field, or a combination of education and experience totaling 7 years.
• Valid driver's license and DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one within 72 hours of hire.
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
• Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Obtain 608/609 certification within 18 months.
