About the position

The Senior Mobile Software Engineering Manager at Care.com is responsible for leading a team of iOS and Android engineers to develop and launch impactful features for mobile applications. This role involves collaborating with product leadership to create a roadmap, managing team dynamics, and advocating for engineering priorities while fostering a culture of learning and development within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of iOS and Android engineers, helping them prioritize, build, and ship impactful features for users.
  • Partner with product leadership to build a composite roadmap that reflects priorities across different areas.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to solve problems and advocate for engineering-specific roadmap items.
  • Collaborate with product, UX, and other disciplines to discover optimal solutions for users.
  • Build and develop the team through internal development and external hiring.
  • Enhance personal leadership skills through learning from other leaders and self-directed learning.

Requirements

  • Proven team leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor others.
  • Strong background in mobile development, comfortable diving into code and interacting with developers.
  • Experience in consuming and building APIs with mobile application considerations.
  • Ability to work with senior stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
  • 10+ years of professional engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of engineering management experience.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a similar engineering field.
