About the position

As a Senior Mobile Software Engineering Manager at Care.com, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team of talented iOS and Android engineers. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the development and launch of impactful features for our mobile applications, which serve millions of families seeking care solutions. You will collaborate closely with product managers and designers to ensure that the engineering team is aligned with the product vision and roadmap. In this role, you will be responsible for building and nurturing your team, focusing on both internal development and external hiring to ensure that you have the right talent in place. You will work with product leadership to create a composite roadmap that reflects the priorities across various areas, allowing for continuous adjustments based on changing conditions. Your leadership will be crucial in advocating for engineering-specific roadmap items and ensuring that the team is equipped to deliver high-quality solutions. Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of iOS and Android engineers, helping them prioritize, build, and ship impactful features for users.
  • Partner with product leadership to build a composite roadmap that reflects priorities across different areas.
  • Continuously rebalance teams to react to changes in surrounding conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with product, UX, and other disciplines to discover the best solutions for users.
  • Build your team through internal development and external hiring.
  • Improve leadership skills by learning from other leaders and through self-directed learning.

Requirements

  • Proven team leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor others.
  • Strong technical background in mobile development, comfortable diving into code and interacting with developers.
  • Experience in consuming and building APIs with considerations for mobile applications.
  • Ability to work with senior stakeholders (Director level and up), both technical and non-technical.
  • 10+ years of professional engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of engineering management experience.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a similar engineering field.
