About the position

The Sr. National Sales Manager at Alila Marea is a key role responsible for driving group revenue opportunities for the hotel. This position requires a fully competent individual with extensive experience in the sales process and function of a hotel. The Sr. National Sales Manager will work collaboratively with the sales and catering team, including sales administrative staff and other support personnel, to maximize operational profitability. The role involves working within a defined territory to develop and leverage strategies that attract new, repeat, and referral business to the hotel. In this position, the Sr. National Sales Manager will be tasked with soliciting, negotiating, contracting, and managing revenues from accounts that align with the group criteria established in the hotel’s business plans and budgets. The individual will develop, implement, and adapt quarterly sales SMART action plans and account development strategies in collaboration with other sales, revenue, and catering team members. Prospecting for new business will be a critical function, utilizing various methods such as phone calls, outside sales calls, community and CVB networking, internet prospecting, and client entertainment within the assigned territory. The role also includes conducting unique site inspections, hotel presentations, and webinars to effectively showcase the hotel. Participation in target market/regional trade shows and sales blitzes is expected, along with fostering good rapport with local civic groups, suppliers, companies, and associations. The Sr. National Sales Manager will prepare and present Requests for Proposals, ensuring that both the client and hotel receive attractive and fair market value. Effective communication of client requirements is essential, as is maintaining accurate and up-to-date data in the hotel sales system. Understanding the overall market dynamics, including supply/demand, territory business trends, competitor SWOT analysis, and client sentiment, will enable the Sr. National Sales Manager to position the hotel effectively. The individual will negotiate booking agreements and contract terms while working closely with departments such as Convention Services and Reservation Sales to ensure successful meeting experiences. Achieving and exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual booking goals is a key performance indicator for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Soliciting, negotiating, contracting, and managing revenues from accounts that meet group criteria established in the Hotel business plans and budgets.
  • Developing, implementing and adapting quarterly sales SMART action plans and account development strategies with other sales, revenue and catering team members.
  • Prospecting for new business using a wide variety of methods including phone calls, outside sales calls, community and CVB networking, internet prospecting, and client entertainment within assigned territory.
  • Traveling into designated markets for multi-day/overnight sales trips up to 15 - 20 times annually.
  • Conducting unique site inspections, Hotel presentations and webinars that project the Hotel in a compelling way.
  • Coordinating and participating in target market/regional trade shows and sales blitzes.
  • Fostering good rapport with local civic groups, suppliers, companies and associations.
  • Accurately preparing and presenting Requests for Proposals to ensure attractive and fair market value for both client and hotel.
  • Effectively communicating client requirements to ensure satisfaction is maintained and exceeded.
  • Managing and maintaining accurate and up-to-date data in the assigned Hotel sales system.
  • Understanding the overall market dynamics to effectively position the Hotel.
  • Negotiating booking agreements and contract terms.
  • Working closely with all departments to ensure successful meeting experiences.
  • Achieving and exceeding monthly, quarterly and annual booking goals.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Three years full-service, luxury hotel sales experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • CMP or other industry certifications desirable but not required.
  • Ability to travel as Hotel and client needs require (less than 25% of the time).
  • Ability to deploy and manage time and resources productively and pro-actively.

  • Strong experience in selling, negotiating, business writing, presentation skills and closing techniques.
  • Ability to use analytical skills for measuring business potential and value to the Hotel.
  • Ability to maintain a resilient, positive attitude that projects positive and friendly interactions with clients and Hotel staff.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel and familiarity with brand specific property systems.

  • Competitive salary range of $90,000 to $110,000 based on experience and education.
