About the position

The Sr Network Administrator (Junior Network Engineer) position is a critical role within the Information Technology department, responsible for providing technical expertise in the management of both public and private networks. This role involves testing and analyzing network facilities, which includes network control software, firewalls, routers, switches, and data communication lines. The successful candidate will be tasked with installing, supporting, and maintaining Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs), while also evaluating and recommending necessary upgrades to networking products and software. In this position, the Sr Network Administrator will perform technical analyses of software, hardware, and transmission facilities using various diagnostic tools to support efficient network operations. Monitoring data traffic and controlling network resource performance is essential to ensure high-quality transmission. The role requires identifying, diagnosing, and resolving technical problems related to network failures, integrity, and the usage of PC hardware and software. The position offers flexibility, allowing for on-site, hybrid, or remote work arrangements. The Sr Network Administrator will be responsible for the daily administration of the network and server environment, which includes installing, configuring, and maintaining system software. Additionally, the role involves monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, and deploying effective solutions. Documentation of network issues and events using standard formats is also a key responsibility. The candidate will plan and implement upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment installations. Utilizing scripting and writing basic programs to automate processes will be part of the job. The Sr Network Administrator will maintain and follow disaster recovery, security, backup, and restore plans, and may evaluate new tools or equipment while performing analysis and feasibility studies to optimize network performance. Researching technical reference materials for network hardware and software to determine the root cause of problems is also expected. The role includes interfacing with vendors to ensure appropriate resolutions during network outages or periods of reduced performance. The position requires consistent exercise of discretion and judgment, as well as the ability to solve complex problems independently with minimal guidance. The Sr Network Administrator may lead projects or project steps within broader projects and will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
