About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Design Manager to lead and manage our network design team. This position is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of our telecommunications network infrastructure. The Network Design Manager will lead a team of network designers and engineers to ensure that our network architecture meets the company's strategic objectives and delivers high performance, reliability, and scalability. This role requires a strategic thinker who can manage, provide direction, and ensure the optimal performance and reliability of our network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have management-level experience with design, installation, and support of access technologies such as Fiber to the Home (FTTH). Additionally, they should possess management-level experience with installation, configuration, and management of access network platforms such as Calix and Adtran. Extensive experience in carrier or ISP networks with a solid background in routing or access technologies is essential. The candidate should also demonstrate emotional intelligence and group relations skills, which are vital for teamwork, leadership, and client interactions. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing network design strategies that align with the company's business goals, collaborating with cross-functional teams, evaluating new technologies, defining network design standards, conducting regular reviews and audits, providing technical guidance and mentorship, coordinating with vendors, and monitoring network performance. The candidate must stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to inform network design decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement network design strategies that align with the company's business goals and objectives.
  • Lead a team of network designers and engineers in the planning, design, and implementation of telecommunications network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, operations, and IT, to ensure seamless integration of network solutions.
  • Evaluate new technologies and products to enhance the performance and efficiency of the network infrastructure.
  • Define network design standards, best practices, and processes to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of network designs to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members to foster their professional development and growth.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to procure network equipment and services as needed.
  • Monitor network performance and capacity to identify and address potential issues proactively.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to inform network design decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network design and architecture, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking technologies, protocols, and standards (e.g., TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with network design tools and software, such as Cisco Packet Tracer, GNS3, or similar.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Computer literate with an emphasis on Microsoft Office and functional knowledge of CAD/GIS systems software.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic transport, fiber to the home, fiber to the curb, cable splicing and assignment for copper and fiber.
