About the position

The Network Development Engineer (NDE) role at Amazon Robotics Infrastructure Engineering involves designing, deploying, and supporting networks that set the global standard for performance, availability, security, and cost. The NDE will work on next-generation network products, focusing on automating networks from diverse vendors to maximize reliability and minimize human intervention. This position requires collaboration with IT support teams and tackling complex problems in a fast-paced environment, ultimately impacting millions of customers.

Responsibilities

• Write code for demanding, cross-functional networking projects.
• Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions.
• Fully understand system inter-dependencies and limitations.
• Research and benchmark Amazon technology against competing systems in the industry.
• Contribute intellectual property through patents.
• Assist in the career development of others by mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
• 5+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience.
• 5+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience.
• Experience with AWS and AWS networking products such as Direct Connect and Transit Gateway.

Nice-to-haves

• Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture.
• Strong desire to build, ability to multitask, sense of ownership and urgency.
• Network automation and deployment using Python.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GIT, and Linux.
• Experience with Cisco ISE.
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center (DNAC).
