About the position

The Sr. Network Development Engineer at Amazon Robotics is responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting advanced network solutions that enable Amazon Fulfillment Centers to efficiently deliver packages. This role focuses on creating next-generation network products, automating networks from diverse vendors, and ensuring high performance, availability, and security. The engineer will work closely with IT support teams and tackle complex challenges in a dynamic environment, contributing to the overall mission of enhancing Amazon's logistics operations.

Responsibilities

• Write code for demanding, cross-functional networking projects.
• Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions.
• Fully understand system inter-dependencies and limitations.
• Research and benchmark Amazon technology against competing systems in the industry.
• Contribute intellectual property through patents.
• Assist in the career development of others by mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
• 5+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience.
• 5+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience.
• Experience with AWS and AWS networking products such as Direct Connect and Transit Gateway.

Nice-to-haves

• Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture.
• Strong desire to build, ability to multitask, sense of ownership and urgency.
• Network automation and deployment using Python.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GIT, and Linux.
• Experience with Cisco ISE.
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center (DNAC).
