About the position

The Sr. Network Development Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, deployment, and scaling of Amazon's networks that support AWS and its customers across multiple global data centers. This position focuses on building efficient, reliable, and sustainable network solutions while collaborating with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure the highest standards of performance and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design network designs, services, and deployment procedures that meet various requirements.
• Collaborate with the leadership team to decide on projects that align with the team's mission.
• Predict and solve for potential problems by creating High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) documents.
• Influence technology roadmaps by working with internal stakeholders.
• Construct and test solutions, providing support to deployment and operations teams.
• Automate deployment processes to enhance quality and velocity.
• Work closely with internal customers to bring designs and solutions from concept to production.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in IP networking fundamentals and application of IP protocols.
• 8+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, ISIS) in a large enterprise environment.
• 8+ years of experience with major network operating systems (Cisco IOS and/or Junos).
• 3+ years of experience with Unix/Linux and scripting in Python, Perl, or shell.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, MBA, or equivalent experience.
• Senior or Lead Engineer experience at other organizations.
• Expert-level certifications (e.g., CCIE, JNCIE).
• Expert-level scripting and automation skills in a network environment.
• Software development/programming skills.
