About the position

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for managing, designing, and improving Comerica's enterprise network. This role involves assisting network architects with the design and implementation of network technologies, providing leadership to engineering teams, and driving infrastructure modernization projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network design, implementation, and management, particularly in medium to large-scale enterprise networks, and will work collaboratively across various business units to implement new technologies and lead assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, design, and improve Comerica's enterprise network.
  • Assist network architects with design and implementation of network technologies.
  • Provide guiding principles and leadership to engineering teams.
  • Drive infrastructure modernization projects to completion.
  • Provide Level 3 technical support for network-related issues.
  • Lead buildout of solutions and drive innovation for incorporating new technologies.
  • Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Develop automated test solutions and manage scripted code.
  • Perform configuration and maintenance of applications and servers.
  • Support enterprise application performance management and monitoring solutions.
  • Design and perform server and security audits and system backup procedures.
  • Integrate servers into enterprise systems and ensure system connectivity.
  • Perform in-depth tests for modified and new systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network and wireless issues.
  • Communicate with engineers and management to provide updates.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to system configuration and processes.

Requirements

  • Experience in network design, implementation, and management of medium-large scale enterprise networks.
  • Familiarity with datacenter technologies such as Nexus Dashboard and Cisco ACI.
  • Experience with Cisco platforms including Catalyst Center, Firepower, and ASA clusters.
  • Knowledge of RemoteAccessVPN/AnyConnect and integration with NAC solutions (Cisco ISE).
  • Cloud networking experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with on-prem to cloud connectivity solutions (BGP peering, Cloud Exchange).
  • Experience with SolarWinds for compliance and monitoring.
  • CCNP Enterprise (R&S) certification required; CCIE is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with LiveAction or LibreNMS monitoring.
  • Strong people skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Experience in agile development environments.
