About the position

The Senior DNS Engineer will be a key member of the Global Network team, responsible for leading DNS technologies and supporting various Hertz locations including data centers, cloud environments, and public domains. This role involves overseeing DNS architecture, design, and operations, as well as managing DHCP and IPAM systems. The engineer will ensure service levels are maintained and improved while minimizing service delivery issues, all aligned with the company's global business strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support and maintenance for the Hertz DNS infrastructure, including L3/4 troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with Hertz NOC for global support concerns and contribute to RCA analysis for major incidents.
  • Ensure proper maintenance coverage for all network systems and provide guidance to NOC and L1/L2 teams.
  • Lead IPAM management, ensuring the system is up to date and identifying gaps in centralized management.
  • Develop IPAM processes and automation strategies, working with local technology teams for awareness.
  • Manage external domain registrars for upkeep of public domain infrastructure.
  • Develop overall DNS architecture and integration across core DNS systems like InfoBlox, BIND, R53, and AD.
  • Consolidate and integrate various DNS systems into a cohesive strategy.
  • Act as the technical lead on DNS, DHCP, and IPAM technologies, ensuring requirements are met in infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure DNS/DHCP infrastructure is built securely and identify/remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Evaluate DNS/DHCP performance and capacity to meet business needs.
  • Maintain relationships with relevant vendors and ensure compliance with technology standards and regulations.
  • Communicate progress regularly to management and stakeholders, and coach new staff members.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in DNS administration, architecture, and operations.
  • Experience with routing/switching technologies including datacenters, wireless, wired, voice, video, and security.
  • In-depth experience of DNS in enterprise networking and public domains.
  • Experience with IPAM tools and processes.
  • Working knowledge of networks, routing, and firewalls, both on-premise and cloud-hosted.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud and cloud-hosted network technologies.
  • Experience in managing diverse projects and working according to ITIL processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of third-party supplier/vendor management for network products and services.
  • Experience with quality management principles and processes.
  • Knowledge in deploying and maintaining various network DDI tools and systems.
