About the position

GovCIO is currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer to provide operation and integration support for a multi-vendor infrastructure, which includes various networks, systems, and virtual training environment (VTE) vendors. This hybrid position is based in Tampa, FL, with on-site requirements determined by project needs. The role involves gathering information about the capabilities of company products, investigating the technical capabilities of both company and competing equipment, and staying updated on developments in hardware and software. The engineer will generate quantifiable requirements based on customer descriptions and system planning and design, ensuring compliance through formal verification methods. Additionally, the engineer will translate high-level product development strategies into detailed network and system requirement specifications, collaborating with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level implementation requirements. The Senior Network Engineer will establish and coordinate the development of standards, practices, and procedures related to network and system development. Responsibilities include designing interfaces and integrating network and system elements to function cohesively, assessing performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures, and acting as a customer liaison to support business development activities while understanding and shaping requirements. The position requires working in a fast-paced environment alongside a team of specialized engineers, providing engineering and implementation actions for integration, modernization, and new installations for partner nations and allies in the Southern and European Command areas of responsibility. The engineer will be responsible for installing network equipment and cabling in complex data center environments, providing operation and integration support for a multi-vendor infrastructure that includes various routers, switches, vendor firewalls, and servers. The role also involves assisting senior engineers with routing and switching support, requiring an intermediate understanding of dynamic routing protocols, layer two technologies, and familiarity with major vendor CLI environments. The engineer will configure, install, and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and other network components under the guidance of senior engineers and network architects, ensuring proper routing protocols are applied to optimize network performance across various network types. Documentation of network and system changes is also a critical aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Gather information concerning the capabilities of Company products and investigate the technical capabilities of competing equipment and solutions.
  • Generate quantifiable requirements based on customer descriptions and system planning & design, ensuring compliance through formal verification methods.
  • Translate high-level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications.
  • Establish and coordinate the development of standards, practices, and procedures related to network and system development.
  • Design interfaces and combine network and system elements to work cohesively.
  • Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
  • Act as a customer liaison and support business development activities, understanding and shaping requirements.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment alongside a team of specialized Engineers for integration, modernization, and new installations.
  • Install network equipment and cabling in complex data center environments.
  • Provide operation and integration support for a multi-vendor infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers.
  • Assist senior engineers with routing and switching support, including dynamic routing protocols and layer two technologies.
  • Configure, install, and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and other network components under guidance.
  • Ensure proper routing protocols are applied to optimize end-to-end network performance across various network types.
  • Assist customers in identifying design objectives, technical specifications, and performance requirements.
  • Document networks, system changes, and required checklists within the configuration baseline.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with 9+ years of relevant experience or commensurate experience.
  • Clearance: Secret.
  • Valid US Passport and preparedness for international travel up to 40% at customer locations in Eastern Europe, Africa, and South America.
  • Proficiency with network drawing and productivity tools (Visio, Lucid, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (Security+CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, CASP, etc.).
  • Entry-level experience with Cyber Network Defense (CND) or Cybersecurity Operations, or current CCNA Level Certification.
  • Knowledge of multi-area OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS environments.
  • Experience setting up IPSec VPNs, GRE Tunnels, and DMVPN architecture.
  • Experience with L2 and L3 protocols over Campus/WAN networks.
  • Experience with multitiered hub-and-spoke network design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant MS Degree and +4 Years; BS Degree and +6 years of relevant experience or HS Diploma +8 years of relevant experience.
  • A senior military background within Signal, Communications, or Information Technology MOSs is highly desired.
  • CCNA Security or CCNA CyberOps - Desired Qualifications in place of CCNA: JNCDA/JNCIA, PCCET/PCNSE - CCNP Security or CCNP Service Provider (SPCORE).
