About the position

The Sr. Network Engineer position is a critical role within our organization, located in Hampton, VA. This position is designed for an experienced professional who will be responsible for analyzing customer requirements and providing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems. The engineer will perform maintenance and upgrades of networks, which include servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and remote access systems, ensuring that all systems maintain integrity and connectivity while complying with established policies. Additionally, the role involves maintaining system backup and recovery capabilities to safeguard data integrity. In this position, the engineer will coordinate the acquisition of necessary hardware and software, as well as subcontractor services when required. The role also includes creating plans and configuring systems for data communication networks, designing and building hardware and software components for telecommunications networks, and evaluating new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities. The Sr. Network Engineer will be expected to maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies and may also coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals in the field. This is a contract position expected to last for 6 months, with a pay rate of $54 per hour. The role requires the ability to travel between 10-25% of the time, which may involve visiting client sites or attending training sessions. Candidates must be able to work on a W-2 basis, as C2C arrangements are not permitted.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
  • Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks
  • Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability
  • Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed
  • Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks
  • Designs and builds hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks
  • Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
  • May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and/or maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Security+ and CCNA certification
  • Experience with Cisco routers/switches
  • Preferred experience with CUCM, TECH Control, FAA and/or Radio (PRC-117)
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering or related field
  • BA/BS or equivalent (can supplement with an additional 4 years of work experience)
