About the position

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our team at Beacon Hill Technologies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a complex, multi-vendor local and wide area network infrastructure. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in F5 equipment and the ability to perform high-risk network changes independently. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our network systems, which are essential for our business operations. As a Network Engineer, you will perform all functions related to network engineering, including configuring switches, routers, and systems hardware. You will coordinate and implement moderate to high-risk network changes to mission-critical areas, ensuring that all changes are documented and integrated seamlessly into our existing infrastructure. Your expertise will be crucial in resolving Tier 2 network issues and escalating complex connectivity problems as necessary. You will maintain a detailed knowledge of our network infrastructure and understand the impact of applications on the network, providing technical guidance and development for team members. In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will act as a technical project leader for medium to large technical projects, researching, recommending, and justifying hardware and software purchases. You will ensure that our network systems meet business needs through careful design, documentation, testing, and integration. Participation in an on-call rotation to resolve help desk tickets and network problems will also be part of your role, as will coordinating changes with vendors and staff while following established change management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all functions of a Network Engineer, including configuring switches, routers, and systems hardware.
  • Coordinate and implement moderate to high-risk network changes to mission-critical areas.
  • Develop and document configuration and network changes.
  • Integrate components supplied by multiple vendors into a unified network.
  • Resolve Tier 2 network issues and escalate complex connectivity issues as necessary.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of network infrastructure and understand the impact of applications on the network.
  • Provide technical guidance and development for team members.
  • Act as technical project leader for medium to large technical projects.
  • Research, recommend, and justify hardware and software purchases.
  • Ensure network systems meet business needs through design, documentation, testing, and integration.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to resolve help desk tickets and network problems.
  • Coordinate changes with vendors and staff, following change management processes.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with F5 equipment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in infrastructure/network environments, performing network engineering and designing, planning, and implementing LANs, WANs, and wireless technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • CCNA, CCNP, or CCDP Certification.
  • Experience with Aruba Wireless.
