About the position

SHI has an exciting opportunity in our internal IT department for a Sr. Network Engineer specializing in Palo Alto technologies. This position is integral to our internal Network Infrastructure team, which is responsible for managing our network and providing support for SHI. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated lead engineer who will help develop our operations, mature our processes, and drive our efforts to scale the company's needs. The Sr. Network Engineer will lead the network team in developing and implementing new secure network designs that align with the company's strategic goals. In this role, you will be tasked with implementing products, platforms, software, hardware, or appliance-based solutions related to network and network security. You will solve unique or complex problems that have a broad impact on the business, taking a comprehensive perspective to identify innovative solutions. You will interface with management and vendors to develop and implement new solutions that meet business requirements, and you will be involved in multi-site datacenter design, migrations, and buildouts, including disaster recovery planning and implementation. Your responsibilities will also include designing, implementing, and supporting cloud environments connected to the enterprise network, as well as managing the rollout of various network infrastructures with necessary capacity planning, performance tuning, and configuration optimization. You will perform network maintenance and system upgrades, maintain network security across the global enterprise, and analyze networks for security threats. Additionally, you will develop technical documentation describing the deployment, configuration, and management of network infrastructure, and participate in IT security audits to ensure required controls are implemented as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Implement products, platforms, software, hardware, or appliance-based solutions related to network and network security.
  • Solve unique or complex problems that have a broad impact on the business.
  • Interface with management and vendors to develop and implement new solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Design, implement, and support multi-site datacenter migrations and buildouts with disaster recovery planning.
  • Design, implement, and support multi-site WAN/MAN/SDWAN solutions.
  • Design and manage the rollout of various network infrastructures with necessary capacity planning and performance tuning.
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations.
  • Maintain network security across the global enterprise; analyze networks for security threats and monitor for breaches.
  • Use network tools for administration, maintenance, automation, and visualization reporting.
  • Develop technical documentation describing the deployment, configuration, and management of network infrastructure.
  • Participate in IT security audits and ensure required controls are implemented as required.
  • Build strong relationships outside of IT to understand business needs and advocate for end users.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with Palo Alto Prisma Cloud, Next-Generation Firewalls, Cortex XDR, Pan-OS, Panorama, and Global Protect.
  • Technical Certifications such as CCNP, NSE4-6, PCNSE, PCNSA, PCSAE, AZ-700, etc. are highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting data and converged network infrastructure including 802.1x, vPC, VXLAN, Routing Protocols including OSPF and BGP, LAN/WAN/Wireless protocols, Network Management tools, Load Balancers, VPNs, Firewalls, and Web Application Firewalls.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco IOS, NXOS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VXLAN.
  • Experience with Datacenter virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with cloud (Azure or AWS) network/infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco and similar VOIP telephony infrastructure.
  • Experience planning, designing, and deploying network architectures using templates at scale using Fortinet, Palo Alto, or Cisco technologies.
  • Proven ability in network capacity and performance planning and monitoring.
  • Strong ability with end-user device connectivity.
  • In-depth knowledge of QoS and traffic shaping.
  • Knowledge of 802.1X and SAML/SSO implementation strategies.
  • Proven ability to analyze and solve tier 3 network incidents.
  • Experience with network automation utilizing GitLab, Ansible, Python, or similar.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with network automation tools and scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with IT security frameworks and compliance standards.
