About the position
The Sr Network Engineer will play a critical role in enterprise networking, focusing on architecture, design, and optimization of complex network solutions. This position requires a deep understanding of key networking technologies and protocols, as well as the ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders and customers to resolve complex issues and drive innovation. The role involves providing technical expertise, acting as a trusted advisor, and continuously enhancing technical skills in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Connects with Cisco internal stakeholders, customers, and partners across functions to achieve significant results.
- Acts as a trusted advisor on assigned customers/accounts by being onsite as needed.
- Makes decisions impacting customer, operational, program, or service objectives.
- Contributes to Customer Problem Resolution, Innovation, Engineering Engagement, Intellectual Capital, and Talent Development.
- Interacts effectively with Engineering to solve complex problems and drive resolution of serviceability issues.
- Provides technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex customer problems in support of critical issues.
- Acts as a focal point for problem resolution/escalation for assigned customer engagements.
- Continuously learns and strengthens technical skills for relevant technical domain and adjacent technologies.
- Applies expected product behavior across industry practices and knows how the technology is expected to work in the industry.
Requirements
- Some architecture experience in enterprise networking.
- CCIE Route Switch certification.
- Experience with enterprise networking and SD WAN.
- Knowledge of Nexus 7k/9k/2k and Catalyst 2k platforms.
- Experience with MPLS and key technologies like OSPF and BGP.
- Typically requires a BS in Computer Science or equivalent plus 8-10 years of relevant experience in Enterprise Networking.
- In-depth knowledge of designing and optimizing complex network solutions.
Nice-to-haves
- Certification like CCIE R/S or Data Center is preferred.
- Programming skills in Ansible, Python, AI/ML is a plus.
- Experience in security is a plus.
