About the position

The Sr. Network Engineer position at CarMax involves leading the design, deployment, and support of network architectures in a large-scale environment. The role requires expertise in various networking protocols and technologies, as well as experience with public cloud solutions. The engineer will also be responsible for conducting network security assessments and enhancing security measures within the network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, deploy, and support LAN/WAN/SDWAN/Spine and Leaf and IP architectures.
• Conduct network security assessments and recommend remediation actions.
• Design and maintain security controls for network infrastructure.
• Enhance security monitoring and detection systems to identify abnormal behavior.
• Lead projects and teams effectively in a network engineering context.
• Utilize public cloud solutions (Azure, AWS, GCP) for network architecture.
• Implement and manage network services and protocols such as TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, and LAN Switching Technologies.
• Work with industry network tools for monitoring, management, and inventory management.

Requirements

• 4+ years of network architecture design and/or solution engineering of data center.
• 2+ years of network design or administration involving cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.).
• 2+ years of scripting or coding experience with one or more languages (Python, GO, PowerShell).
• 8+ years of relevant IT experience in large/complex IT architecture environments.
• 4-year degree in IT related course of study.
• Proven experience as a Senior Network Engineer or similar role.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Nutanix or other hyper-converged technologies.
• Familiarity with VMware and Acropolis Hypervisors.
• Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP.
